What to Wear for a Photoshoot in Italy

A practical guide to choosing outfits, colours and fabrics that flatter your photos, with tips for every season and for coordinating couples and families.

The right outfit can turn a good shoot into an extraordinary one. You do not need a new wardrobe: a few thoughtful choices on colours, fabrics and coordination are enough. Here is our guide.

Colours and palette Go for neutral and warm tones — beige, terracotta, cream white, dusty blue — that pair with the stone and golden hues of Italian cities. Avoid bold logos and busy patterns, which distract from the face. For couples, choose complementary palettes rather than dressing identically.

Fabrics and movement Flowing fabrics like linen, silk and chiffon catch the light and move with the wind, giving dynamic shots. A long dress that sways or a soft jacket adds elegance. Avoid stiff or tight garments, which look static in photos.

Seasons and group coordination In summer prefer light fabrics and pale colours; in winter play with layers, coats and warm accessories. For families, coordinate colours within two or three tones without the uniform effect. Always bring a second outfit: changing your look doubles the variety of the shoot.
